Comment to the Environmental Assessment Office open until June 14

Engage in the process recently initiated by the Environmental Assessment OfficeThere is now an ongoing process to determine if the project should go to Environmental Assessment

  • An environmental group called Wildsight submitted a letter requesting the Record Ridge mine be subjected to an Environmental Assessment.

  • Although the proponent claims the project is a quarry, SRRAC maintains that the project is a mine and given the quantities to be extracted it automatically triggers an environmental assessment. We are working with an independent expert that will study this matter in further detail.

  • Even if the Environmental Assessment Office does not categorize the mine as a mine, we assert that the potential impacts of the project are sufficient to require an Environmental Assessment. We are working to provide a submission that provides clear evidence of these potential impacts.

Submit your comments to the EAO by June 14. Tell the EAO why you think the Record Ridge mine should be categorized as a mine and why it requires an Environmental Assessment.  https://engage.eao.gov.bc.ca/RecordRidge-PD
